Pambansang Museo

5/28/2016

As a kid, I've always been fascinated with museums. The first museum I've been to as a child was Museong Pambata which I barely even remember going there, second that I can clearly recall is the Fort Santiago Museum; I was with my mom and it was my first time in Intramuros hehe. When I was in second year high school our whole class decided to go around Manila with no particular itinerary or plan in mind, so jiving along with the spontaneity, I suggested going to National Museum since (1) I've never been there and (2) I've been meaning to see the place for ages.

Unfortunately, we went to the Pier instead – not that I'm complaining though, it was fun too! (& I learned so much about HIV so)

It was summer before sophomore year in college started that I actually went in the place + I was with my high school teacher I considered as my other parent so it's a win/win situation sans the broken heart I was mending (wuuuuw!) We were only able to go to the other building which housed more on the Philippine culture. Also, it was my first time to ride an elevator na kinakausap ako in Japanese! Tang ina amazing!!!!

The famous 'Spoliarium by Juan Luna'

Ang haba ng sinabi ko sa una but I came back to National Museum more often after that. Basically, residente na 'ko ng galugad ng Maynila. This time, I was with my blockmates for our Literature requirement. I always make it a point to submit all the needed requirements for Lit103 because I love our prof so much I wish I could have a keychain version of him so I can tag him along with me everywhere. Also this time, I'm not using my phone camera anymore #yes #madam

The best time to visit all the Manila-based museums is May because it's national heritage month and I believe that most museums in Manila offer free entrances or/and if not, half the price of the regular entrance fee (for Planetarium I think???? Idk tbh) see also: women's month & other holidays

A few months ago, the museum announced that they have a part of the Berlin Wall. I have 3 dream destinations I plan to go to when I get $$$ in the future:

01. India
02. Japan
03. Germany

That being said you have no idea how much time we spent looking for the Berlin Wall (nagpaikot ikot kami I s2g) and lord, I touched the wall's base because wala lang who gives a shit right??? That's bad museum ethics and I'm not encouraging anyone to do it soz.

So yeah. That's me not knowing what to pose because I'm, in all honesty, too overwhelmed that the wall that once divided and barricaded families and, well, humanity, is right in front of me! Dati sa documentaries ko lang to nakikita ngayon nasa Pilipinas na siya!!!! So emotional!! Di naman ako nagluwal sakanya!!!

"The National Museum is pleased to host this traveling exhibition of renowned French architect Jacques Ferrier, which is first to be shown in Southeast Asia. It displays scale models of some of his more famous work, especially the French Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo.

Ferrier's humanistic vision for tomorrow’s cities finds its full expression in the concept of the Sensual City – an urban proposal developed for the French Pavilion in Shanghai – which seeks to answer the question of what urban design and planning should today be, and which is to be continued through his mission as consultant for the design and architecture of the Grand Paris Express rapid transit." (from National Museum's facebook)
Also during the time we visited (which was March, late post I know) there was an exhibit going on. It was the Jacques Ferrier: A Vision for the Sensual City which is mostly of French architecture. Everything was modern and good.

Projectors about the architectural designs were playing on both sides however, we weren't allowed to take pictures of it. Inner hipster child in me whimpered kasi diba uso magpa picture sa projector eme drama daming alam.
The Old Senate Hall. (so much Yeezy vibes idk why)

That's everything that I had to talk about. Next time, Planetarium naman!
